Built for the filming of The Man from Snowy River, then burnt in the 2006 bushfires and recently rebuilt, Craig's Hut is a popular destination for a picnic to enjoy the outstanding views. Craigs Hut is accessible via the circuit Road on Mt. Stirling by both 2WD( you will need to walk last 250m) and 4WD vehicles and only 45mins from Play Shack®
Just a 40 minutes drive from Play Shack®.Take a leisurely walk around this small township. In the 1850s its population was around 4,000. The town is at the junction of the Goulburn and Jamieson River. Shaded picnic ground located at Brewery Bridge, great for younger children to splash around in. Visit the famousJamieson Brewery as well.
Located approximately 1 hr from Play Shack®, the Kelly Tree is the site of the October 25th 1878 gunfight between the Kelly Gang and Mansfield Police. Three Policemen (Sergeant Kennedy, and Constables Scanlon and Lonigan) were shot. Stringy-bark Camping Reserve is located nearby with toilet facilities. A memorial to these policemen is situated in the centre of the round about in Mansfield. Their graves can be found in the Mansfield cemetery.
LAKE WILLIAM HOVELL
Whitfield-Cheshunt Road, Whitfield. 1 hour and 45 minutes drive from Play Shack®, this lake is a popular haunt for Mansfield residents offering great swimming, canoeing and boating enjoyment. Enjoy a laid back day around the lake or have a BBQ while taking in the views. Toilets and BBQ facilities are available.
Just 20 minutes from Play Shack®, Mt Buller in the summertime is a place of beauty, fun and relaxation. Take a bushwalk, hire a bike, pack a picnic or eat out at one of the cafes. The Horsehill Chairlift is open 10am - 4pm during school holidays & each weekend up to & including Easter. Toilets, ATM, picnic tables and BBQ facilities available.
Howqua track via Merrijig. A 30-45 minute drive from Play Shack®, turn onto the Howqua Track for a winding descent into Sheepyard Flat. You will find a great picnic area with fireplaces, toilets & picnic tables and good fishing on the Howqua River. When you arrive find the marked scenic track from Sheepyard Flat to Fry's Hut (60 mins return), gaining insights into the gold mining history of this area. Further along the road from Sheepyard Flat is Tunnel Bend, a 100m long tunnel dug through rock by Chinese miners in the gold mining days.
Mt.Buller Road, Mirimbah. Situated 5 minutes from Play Shack® at the foot of Mt.Buller beside the Delatite River. Try your luck at fishing, take a dip in the river or take off on a bush walk from here. The park has playground equipment, toilets and complimentary gas BBQs.

Stoney's Road, Mansfield
A 20 minute drive from Play Shack®, this family winery offers lovely wines in a warm cosy atmosphere. The grounds have magnificent views of the mountains where you can picnic or have a family BBQ.

An hour drive from Play Shack, Chrismont WINES atop a 250 acre vineyard where there are stunning views

An hour and a half drive from Play Shack, Pizzini Wines are open for cellar door tastings and sales 7 days a week.
